If Nodux disappears
It is the question almost nobody asks out loud because it sounds rude, and that is exactly why it goes unanswered. Here it is answered.
If you are going to run part of your operation on a software vendor, it is fair to ask what happens to your information if that vendor stops operating. It applies to us and it applies to anyone. Most don't answer it; we would rather you read it before signing.
The short answer
None of your data exists only inside Nodux. You can take all your information out today, yourself, without asking our permission, without telling us and without paying anything. If that export works today, it works the day you need it.
There is a difference between depending on a vendor and being trapped by one. The first is unavoidable with any software; the second is a choice, and it can be verified before signing.
Verify it before you trust us
You don't have to take our word for it. During the trial, log in and export. If the files open in Excel and contain what you expect, you have tested the exit before you need it:
| What | Format | From where |
|---|---|---|
| Customers and contacts | CSV | Customer list |
| Tickets and their history | CSV / PDF | Ticket list |
| Equipment and assets | CSV | Equipment inventory |
| Inventory and catalog | CSV | Spare parts and catalog |
| Expenses and billing statements | CSV | Finance |
| Issued documents | Quotes, reports, delivery notes |
CSV opens in Excel, in Google Sheets and in any system you want to migrate to. There is no proprietary format, no file that only Nodux can read, and no export feature hidden behind a more expensive plan.
The three scenarios
1. Nodux goes down for a while
The common case. It is handled with backups and point-in-time recovery. The details are in Backups and continuity. Your information is not affected.
2. You want to leave
You export and you leave. We don't charge you for leaving, there is no minimum commitment period, and we don't hold on to your information as leverage for renewal. If you need a full extraction in another format to migrate to another system, we prepare it at no cost.
Charging for the exit, or making it difficult, is a practice we know well and decided not to have. A vendor that needs to keep you by force is already telling you something about its product.
3. Nodux stops operating
The scenario that prompted this page. What we can commit to in writing in your contract:
- Advance notice before discontinuing the service, with an agreed period.
- Full extraction of your company's information, delivered in a standard format, at no cost.
- An access window after the notice, so you can migrate without rushing.
If your legal team needs something stronger (source code escrow with a third party, a specific period, particular conditions), it is open to discussion. Write to us at soporte@nodux.link with what your policy requires and we will tell you frankly what we can and cannot do.
The limit of any promise
No software vendor can guarantee that its product will still exist ten years from now, and the industry is full of platforms discontinued by huge companies that did promise it. We are not going to promise it to you.
What we can offer you carries more weight: that the decision to stay with us is still yours every month, because your information never stopped being within your reach.
